Martinsville Facility

Our plant in Martinsville, VA is
currently operational. We're
presently supplying steam to our various customers.
It's
taken us almost a year to "tweak" the burning process, but we've
finally done it. Currently we are operating at a capacity of 27 lbs/min
of tires, that's about 37,000 lbs of tires per day that does not have
to be deposited into landfills or illegal tire piles. We
are a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation, supplying some of our friends
in the Martinsville Industrial Park with steam helping to reduce their energy
costs.
The
basis for the operation of the plant is quite simple. The tires are brought from our
customers to the site in tractor trailers where they are then unloaded onto
the tire conveying system. Each individual tire is weighed and
"injected" into the Rotary Kiln at a rate dictated by our operators
and the weight of the tires. As the tires are burned, the high
temperature exhaust gasses are then directed into a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)
to produce steam for our customers. After the HRSG the flue gas is then
treated with a dry sorbent to reduce emission levels to acceptable levels then
through a baghouse and out the stack.
NO
BLACK SMOKE
You
can see our vented surplus steam to show we are in operation but NO BLACK
SMOKE from the stack.
Our
boiler room houses our Boiler, Deaerator, and all necessary support equipment.
Tires
after being unloaded from the trailers and then going up our conveyor system
for injection.
From
the Control Room our operators can monitor and control all aspects of the
burning process.
